حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى بِالْيَمِينِ مَعَ الشَّاهِدِ. قَالَ جَعْفَرٌ: قَالَ أَبِي: وَقَضَى بِهِ عَلِيٌّ بِالْعِرَاقِ

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ كَانَ أَبِي قَدْ ضَرَبَ عَلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ وَلَمْ يُوَافِقْ أَحَدٌ الثَّقَفِيَّ عَلَى جَابِرٍ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ بِهِ حَتَّى قَرَأَهُ عَلَيَّ وَكَتَبَ عَلَيْهِ صَحَّ
machine translationAbū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said: My father had struck out this ḥadīth. He said: No one agreed with al-Thaqafī on (the narration from) Jābir. I kept at him until he read it to me, and he wrote on it: "Ṣaḥḥ" (sound).

Muḥammad sometimes narrated this ḥadīth as mursal and sometimes connected it from Jābir, because a group of trustworthy (thiqāt) narrators memorized it from his father from Jābir. The ruling requires that the statement is theirs, because they added, and they are trustworthy, and the addition of a trustworthy narrator is accepted.
