✧ A man from the Ansar came with two of his camels, and the sun had set. Mu'adh was praying Maghrib, so he joined the prayer. Mu'adh began reciting al-Baqarah or al-Nisa'—Muharib is the one who is unsure. When the man saw that, he prayed [alone] and left. He said: He learned that Mu'adh spoke ill of him—Hajjaj said: he speaks ill of him. He said: He mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'Are you a cause of trial, O Mu'adh? Are you a cause of trial, O Mu'adh?'—or: 'A tempter, a tempter, a tempter?' And Hajjaj said: 'A tempter, a tempter, a tempter?'—'Why did you not recite: Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, and the sun and its brightness, so that the elderly, the needy—and the weak—could pray behind you?'
