حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَصْحَابِ الشَّجَرَةِ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: لَوْ كُنَّا مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ لَكَفَانَا، كُنَّا أَلْفًا وَخَمْسَمِائَةٍ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar

  3. ʿAmr b. Murrah
  4. Sālim b. Abū al-Jaʿd

✧ I asked Jabir b. Abdullah about the companions of the tree. He said: 'Even if we had been a hundred thousand, it would have sufficed us. We were a thousand five hundred.'
