حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ

كَانَ إِذَا أَكَلَ طَعَامًا لَعِقَ أَصَابِعَهُ الثَّلَاثَ، وَقَالَ: إِذَا مَا وَقَعَتْ لُقْمَةُ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلْيُمِطْ عَنْهَا الْأَذَى وَلْيَأْكُلْهَا وَلَا يَدَعْهَا لِلشَّيْطَانِ، وَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَسْلِتَ الصَّحْفَةَ، وَقَالَ: إِنَّكُمْ لَا تَدْرُونَ فِي أَيِّ طَعَامِكُمُ الْبَرَكَةُ

Translation

✧ When he ate food, he would lick his three fingers, and he said, “If a morsel of one of you falls, let him wipe away any dirt from it and eat it, and not leave it for Satan.” And he commanded us to wipe the bowl clean, and he said, “You do not know in which of your foods the blessing lies.”
