✧ When it was revealed: 'O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet,' Thabit b. Qays sat in his house, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ missed him. He said to Sa'd b. Mu'adh: 'O Abu 'Amr, what is the matter with Thabit b. Qays that he is not seen? Is he ill?' He said: 'I know of no illness for him, and he is my neighbor.' Sa'd entered upon him and mentioned to him what the Prophet ﷺ said. Thabit said: 'You know that I was one of the loudest of you in voice before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and this verse has been revealed, and I am ruined; I am one of the people of the Fire.' Sa'd mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'Rather, he is one of the people of Paradise.'
