حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

لَا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ مِنْ ضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ، فَإِنْ كَانَ لَا بُدَّ فَاعِلًا فَلْيَقُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي مَا كَانَتِ الْحَيَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي، وَتَوَفَّنِي إِذَا كَانَتِ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي

Translation

✧ None of you should wish for death because of harm that befalls him. If he must do so, then let him say: O God, keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and cause me to die when death is better for me.
