حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ السُّدِّيِّ قَالَ

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى ابْنِهِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: لَا أَدْرِي، رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ، لَوْ عَاشَ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَبِيًّا، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: كَيْفَ أَنْصَرِفُ إِذَا صَلَّيْتُ عَنْ يَمِينِي أَوْ عَنْ يَسَارِي، قَالَ: أَمَّا أَنَا فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ prayed over his son Ibrahim. He [the narrator] said: I do not know whether he said: May God's mercy be upon Ibrahim; had he lived, he would have been a truthful prophet. He said: I asked: How should I turn away when I have prayed—to my right or to my left? He said: As for me, I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ turn away to his right.
