حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ

مَا خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمِ فِطْرٍ قَطُّ حَتَّى يَأْكُلَ تَمَرَاتٍ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ أَنَسٌ يَأْكُلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ ثَلَاثًا، فَإِنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَزْدَادَ أَكَلَ خَمْسًا، فَإِنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَزْدَادَ أَكَلَ وِتْرًا

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. ʿAlī b. ʿĀṣim
  2. ʿUbaydullāh b. Abū Bakr b. Anas
  3. Anas b. Mālik

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never went out on the day of Fiṭr until he had eaten some dates. He said: Anas used to eat three before going out; if he wanted more, he ate five; and if he wanted more, he ate an odd number.
