✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited us in our home, so we milked a domestic animal of ours for him and mixed its milk with water from the well. To the right of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was a man from the desert dwellers, and behind that man was ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, and to the left of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was Abū Bakr. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drank, and when he removed the cup from his mouth—or was about to remove it—ʿUmar said to him, “O Messenger of Allah, give it to Abū Bakr.” But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the cup to the desert Arab. Then he said, “To the right, then to the right.”
