حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ

أَنَّ أَنَسًا سُئِلَ: خَضَبَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: لَمْ يَبْلُغْ شَيْبُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَا كَانَ يَخْضِبُ، وَلَوْ شِئْتُ أَنْ أَعُدَّ شَمَطَاتٍ كُنَّ فِي لِحْيَتِهِ لَفَعَلْتُ، وَلَكِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ كَانَ يَخْضِبُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ، وَكَانَ عُمَرُ يَخْضِبُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ

Translation

✧ Anas was asked, "Did the Prophet ﷺ dye his hair?" He said, "The gray hair of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was not enough that he would dye it. If I wished to count the white hairs that were in his beard, I could do so. But Abu Bakr used to dye with henna and katam, and 'Umar used to dye with henna."
