حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؛ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الرَّجُلُ يُحِبُّ الرَّجُلَ وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ كَعَمَلِهِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ، فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ: فَمَا رَأَيْتُ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَرِحُوا بِشَيْءٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ الْإِسْلَامَ، مَا فَرِحُوا بِهَذَا مِنْ قَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ: فَنَحْنُ نُحِبُّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا نَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ نَعْمَلَ كَعَمَلِهِ، فَإِذَا كُنَّا مَعَهُ فَحَسْبُنَا

Translation

✧ A man came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, a man loves another man but cannot do deeds like his deeds?" The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "A person is with the one he loves." Anas said: "I never saw the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ rejoice over anything as much as they rejoiced over this statement of the Messenger of God ﷺ, except for Islam." Anas said: "We love the Messenger of God ﷺ and cannot do deeds like his deeds, so if we are with him, that is sufficient for us."
