حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ أَنَسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ

قَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَنْ أَبِي ؟ قَالَ: أَبُوكَ فُلَانٌ، فَنَزَلَتْ: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ. إِلَى تَمَامِ الْآيَةِ

Translation

✧ A man said: O Messenger of Allah, who is my father? He said: Your father is so-and-so. Then the verse was revealed: 'O you who believe, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you' until the end of the verse.
