حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَتَّابًا مَوْلَى ابْنِ هُرْمُزَ يَقُولُ

صَحِبْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ فِي سَفِينَةٍ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِي هَذِهِ، وَأَشَارَ بِيَمِينِهِ عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُ

Translation

✧ I accompanied Anas b. Malik on a ship, and I heard him say: I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with this hand of mine — and he gestured with his right hand — to hearing and obedience as much as I am able.
