حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ وَحَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَنَسٌ عَمِّي قَالَ
عَمِّي، قَالَ هَاشِمٌ: أَنَسُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ سُمِّيتُ بِهِ لَمْ يَشْهَدْ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ، قَالَ: فَشَقَّ عَلَيْهِ، وَقَالَ: فَأَوَّلُ مَشْهَدٍ شَهِدَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ غِبْتُ عَنْهُ، لَئِنْ أَرَانِي اللهُ مَشْهَدًا فِيمَا بَعْدُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، لَيَرَيَنَّ اللهُ مَا أَصْنَعُ، قَالَ: فَهَابَ أَنْ يَقُولَ غَيْرَهَا، قَالَ: فَشَهِدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ، قَالَ: فَاسْتَقْبَلَ سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهُ أَنَسٌ: يَا أَبَا عَمْرٍو، أَيْنَ ؟ وَاهًا لِرِيحِ الْجَنَّةِ أَجِدُهُ دُونَ أُحُدٍ. قَالَ: فَقَاتَلَهُمْ حَتَّى قُتِلَ، فَوُجِدَ فِي جَسَدِهِ بِضْعٌ وَثَمَانُونَ مِنْ ضَرْبَةٍ وَطَعْنَةٍ وَرَمْيَةٍ، قَالَ: فَقَالَتْ أُخْتُهُ عَمَّتِي الرُّبَيِّعُ بِنْتُ النَّضْرِ: فَمَا عَرَفْتُ أَخِي إِلَّا بِبَنَانِهِ. وَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلا، قَالَ: فَكَانُوا يُرَوْنَ أَنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِيهِ وَفِي أَصْحَابِهِ

✧ My paternal uncle — Hashim said: Anas b. al-Nadr, after whom I was named — did not witness Badr with the Prophet ﷺ. He said: That weighed heavily on him, and he said: “The first battle the Messenger of Allah ﷺ witnessed, I was absent from it. If Allah shows me a battle after this with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Allah will surely see what I do.” He said: He was hesitant to say anything else. He said: He witnessed Uhud with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: He met Saʿd b. Muʿadh. He said: Anas said to him: “O Abu ʿAmr, where? Ah, I find the scent of Paradise before Uhud.” He said: He fought them until he was killed, and in his body were found more than eighty wounds from strikes, stabs, and arrows. He said: His sister, my paternal aunt al-Rubayyiʿ bint al-Nadr, said: “I only recognized my brother by his fingertips.” And this verse was revealed: “Among the believers are men who have been true to what they pledged to Allah. Some of them have fulfilled their vow, and some are still waiting, and they have not changed in the least.” He said: They used to think it was revealed about him and his companions.
