✧ It was said to Ali: 'Your Messenger used to single you out with something apart from the people generally.' He said: 'The Messenger of God ﷺ did not single us out with anything he did not single out the people with, except something in the sheath of this sword of mine.' He took out a document containing something about the ages of camels, and in it: 'Madinah is sacred between Thawr and Air. Whoever introduces an innovation in it or gives shelter to an innovator, upon him is the curse of God, the angels, and all people; neither obligatory nor supererogatory acts will be accepted from him on the Day of Resurrection. The protection of Muslims is one; whoever violates a Muslim's protection, upon him is the curse of God, the angels, and all people; neither obligatory nor supererogatory acts will be accepted from him on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever takes as an ally a freedman without their permission, upon him is the curse of God, the angels, and all people; neither obligatory nor supererogatory acts will be accepted from him on the Day of Resurrection.'
