حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ ذُكِرَ لِي

ذُكِرَ لِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ - وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ مِنْهُ -: إِنَّ فِيكُمْ قَوْمًا يَعْبُدُونَ وَيَدْأَبُونَ، حَتَّى يُعْجَبَ بِهِمُ النَّاسُ وَتُعْجِبَهُمْ نُفُوسُهُمْ، يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ مُرُوقَ السَّهْمِ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ

Translation

✧ It was mentioned to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said—and I did not hear it from him—: "Among you are people who worship and strive until people admire them and their own selves admire them. They slip out of the religion as an arrow slips out of the game."
