حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ
سَمِعَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ بِبَدْرٍ وَهُوَ يُنَادِي - يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ -: يَا أَبَا جَهْلِ بْنَ هِشَامٍ، يَا شَيْبَةُ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ، يَا عُتْبَةُ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ، يَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنَ خَلَفٍ، هَلْ وَجَدْتُمْ مَا وَعَدَ رَبُّكُمْ حَقًّا ؟ فَإِنِّي [قَدْ] وَجَدْتُ مَا وَعَدَنِي رَبِّي حَقًّا. قَالُوا: كَيْفَ تُكَلِّمُ قَوْمًا قَدْ جَيَّفُوا، وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ أَنْ يُجِيبُوا ؟ قَالَ: مَا أَنْتُمْ بِأَسْمَعَ لِمَا أَقُولُ مِنْهُمْ
Translation

✧ The Muslims heard at Badr while he was calling out—meaning the Prophet ﷺ—: 'O Abu Jahl b. Hisham, O Shaybah b. Rabi'ah, O 'Utbah b. Rabi'ah, O Umayyah b. Khalaf, have you found what your Lord promised to be true? For I have indeed found what my Lord promised me to be true.' They said: 'How can you speak to people who have become corpses and cannot answer?' He said: 'You are not more able to hear what I say than they are.'
