✧ The people asked the Messenger of God ﷺ so many questions that they exhausted him with questioning. One day he ascended the pulpit and said: "You will not ask me about anything except that I will make it clear to you." Anas said: "I began looking right and left, and behold, every person had wrapped his head in his garment, weeping." He said: "Then a man stood up who, when he quarreled, would be called by a father other than his own. He said: 'O Messenger of God, who is my father?' He said: 'Your father is Hudhafah.'" Abu 'Amir said: "I think he said: 'Then a man said: O Messenger of God, am I in Paradise or in the Fire?' He said: 'In the Fire.'" He said: "Then 'Umar stood up and said: 'We are content with God as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as Prophet. We seek refuge in God from the evil of trials.'" He said: "Then the Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'I have never seen good and evil like today. Paradise and the Fire were depicted until I saw them on this side of the wall.'"
