Translation

✧ I took Abdullah b. Abi Talhah to the Messenger of God ﷺ when he was born. I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was in a cloak, applying tar to a camel of his. He said to me: Do you have dates with you? I said: Yes. He took some dates, put them in his mouth, chewed them, then rubbed the infant’s palate with them. The infant opened his mouth, and the Prophet ﷺ gave him some. The infant began to lick his lips. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: The Ansar love nothing but dates. And he named him Abdullah.
