حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ وَحَسَنٌ الْأَشْيَبُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ حَسَنٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ وَحُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ عَلَى بَغْلَتِهِ الشَّهْبَاءِ بِحَائِطٍ لِبَنِي النَّجَّارِ، فَسَمِعَ أَصْوَاتَ قَوْمٍ يُعَذَّبُونَ فِي قُبُورِهِمْ، فَحَاصَتِ الْبَغْلَةُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: لَوْلَا أَنْ لَا تَدَافَنُوا لَسَأَلْتُ اللهَ [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ] أَنْ يُسْمِعَكُمْ عَذَابَ الْقَبْرِ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ passed by a garden of Banu al-Najjar on his gray mule and heard the voices of people being punished in their graves. The mule shied, and the Prophet ﷺ said: Were it not that you would stop burying one another, I would ask God [Mighty and Majestic] to let you hear the punishment of the grave.
