✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to mix with us so much that he would say to a little brother of mine: O Abu ʿUmayr, what happened to the nughayr? He said: And when the prayer came, we would sprinkle for him a corner of a mat, then he led us and we formed rows behind him.
Notes

machine translationShuʿbah narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Yaḥyā b. al-Mundhir al-Ḥajarī, a Kūfan, narrated it from Ibn Idrīs, from Shuʿbah, from Jaʿfar b. Iyās, from Anas. Saʿīd b. ʿĀmir contradicted him and narrated it from Shuʿbah, from Qatādah, from Anas. Both are mistaken (wahm); the correct version is from Shuʿbah, from Abū al-Tayyāḥ, from Anas.
