حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ قَالَ وَكَانَ رَجُلَ صِدْقٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَسْتَشْرِفَ الْعَيْنَ وَالْأُذُنَ، وَأَنْ لَا نُضَحِّيَ بِعَوْرَاءَ، وَلَا مُقَابَلَةٍ، وَلَا مُدَابَرَةٍ، وَلَا شَرْقَاءَ، وَلَا خَرْقَاءَ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Yaḥyá b. Abū Bukayr
  2. Zuhayr
  3. Abū Isḥāq
  4. Shurayḥ b. al-Nuʿmān
  5. And Kān a man Ṣidq
  6. ʿAlī

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ commanded us to look closely at the eye and the ear, and not to sacrifice an animal that is one-eyed, or whose front or back is cut off, or whose ear is slit, or whose ear is pierced.
