✧ While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the mosque, a man entered on a camel, made it kneel in the mosque, tied it, and said: Which of you is Muhammad? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was reclining among them. We said: This white man who is reclining. The man said: O son of Abd al-Muttalib. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: I am at your service. The man said: O Muhammad, I am going to question you and be stern in questioning, so do not take it to heart. He said: Ask whatever comes to you. The man said: I adjure you by your Lord and the Lord of those before you: Has Allah sent you to all people? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, yes. He said: I adjure you by Allah: Has Allah commanded you to perform the five prayers in the day and night? He said: O Allah, yes. He said: I adjure you by Allah: Has Allah commanded you to fast this month of the year? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, yes. He said: I adjure you by Allah: Has Allah commanded you to take this charity from our rich and distribute it among our poor? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, yes. The man said: I believe in what you have brought, and I am the messenger of my people behind me. I am Dimam b. Tha'labah, brother of the Banu Sa'd b. Bakr.

  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationA hadith narrated by Ibn Abī Fudayk from al-Ḍaḥḥāk b. ʿUthmān from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from Abū Hurayrah is an error (wahm). Rather, it was narrated by al-Layth from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from Sharīk b. ʿAbdillāh b. Abī Namir from Anas from the Prophet ﷺ, and that is more likely correct.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 12859
  • Dāraquṭnī

والصواب ما رواه الليث بن سعد عن سعيد المقبري عن شريك بن أبي نمر عن أنس بن مالك

machine translationThe correct version is what al-Layth b. Saʿd narrated from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from Sharīk b. Abī Namir from Anas b. Mālik.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 12859
  • Dāraquṭnī

وقد سمعه الليث من المقبري وهو صحيح عنه

machine translationAl-Layth heard it from al-Maqburī, and it is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) from him.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 12859
