✧ When this verse was revealed: “O you who believe, do not raise your voices” to the end of the verse, Thabit b. Qays sat in his house and said: I am one of the people of the Fire, and he kept away from the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ asked Sa'd b. Mu'adh: O Abu Amr, what is the matter with Thabit? Is he ill? Sa'd said: He is my neighbor, and I do not know of any illness he has. Then Sa'd went to him and mentioned the Prophet's ﷺ words to him. Thabit said: This verse was revealed, and you know that I am one of the loudest of you in voice before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I am one of the people of the Fire. Sa'd mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Rather, he is one of the people of Paradise.
