حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ

إِنَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ تَفَرَّقَتْ إِحْدَى وَسَبْعِينَ فِرْقَةً، فَهَلَكَتْ سَبْعُونَ فِرْقَةً، وَخَلَصَتْ فِرْقَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ، وَإِنَّ أُمَّتِي سَتَفْتَرِقُ عَلَى اثْنَتَيْنِ وَسَبْعِينَ فِرْقَةً، تَهْلِكُ إِحْدَى وَسَبْعُونَ فِرْقَةً وَتَخْلُصُ فِرْقَةٌ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَنْ تِلْكَ الْفِرْقَةُ ؟ قَالَ: الْجَمَاعَةُ، الْجَمَاعَةُ

Translation

✧ The Children of Israel split into seventy-one sects; seventy sects perished, and one sect remained safe. My community will split into seventy-two sects; seventy-one will perish and one will remain safe. They said: O Messenger of Allah, who is that sect? He said: The main body, the main body.
