✧ I entered upon the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was on a bed woven with palm-fiber ropes, with a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibers under his head. A group of his companions entered upon him, and Umar entered. The Messenger of God ﷺ shifted a little, and Umar saw no cloth between his flank and the rope, and the rope had left marks on the side of the Messenger of God ﷺ. Umar wept, so the Prophet ﷺ said to him: What makes you weep, O Umar? He said: By God, I do not weep except that I know you are more honored with God [Mighty and Majestic] than Kisra and Caesar, while they roam in this world as they roam, and you, O Messenger of God, are in the place that I see. The Prophet ﷺ said: Are you not content that theirs is this world and ours is the Hereafter? Umar said: Yes. He said: Indeed, it is so.
