✧ The Prophet ﷺ proposed to a man from the Ansar, on behalf of Julaybib, for his daughter. The man said: "Until I consult her mother." The Prophet ﷺ said: "Then yes, if you wish." So the man went to his wife and mentioned that to her. She said: "No, by Allah! Has the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not found anyone but Julaybib? And we have refused her to so-and-so and so-and-so?" The girl was behind her curtain, listening. Then the man went to inform the Prophet ﷺ of that, but the girl said: "Do you want to reject the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? If he has approved him for you, then marry me to him." It was as if she had freed her parents from their oath. They said: "You have spoken the truth." So her father went to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "If you are pleased with him, then we are pleased." He said: "Indeed, I am pleased with him." So he married her to him. Then the people of Madinah were alarmed, and Julaybib rode out. They found him slain, with around him some of the polytheists whom he had killed. Anas said: "I saw her, and she was among the most self-sufficient households in Madinah."
