حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ: لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ، و مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، حَائِطِي الَّذِي كَانَ بِمَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَاللهِ لَوِ اسْتَطَعْتُ أَنْ أُسِرَّهَا لَمْ أُعْلِنْهَا، فَقَالَ: اجْعَلْهُ فِي فُقَرَاءِ أَهْلِكَ

Translation

✧ When the verse “You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love” (3:92) and “Who is it that would loan God a goodly loan” (2:245) were revealed, Abu Talha said: “O Messenger of God, my garden that is in such-and-such a place—by God, if I could keep it secret, I would not make it public.” He said: “Place it for the poor among your family.”
