What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationThe narration of Abū Qilābah from Anas, that he heard them calling out the talbiyah for both of them together, is more firmly established than the narration of those who reported from him that the Prophet ﷺ combined Hajj and ʿUmrah.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 12209
  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationSulaymān b. Ḥarb objected that Qatādah and other memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) narrated it from Anas in the same way, so the disagreement concerns Anas himself. He said: Perhaps he heard the Prophet ﷺ teaching someone else how to declare the intention for Qirān (combining ḥajj and ʿumrah), and so he thought that he was declaring it for himself.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 12209
