حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ سَمِعَ أَنَسًا يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ

يَتْبَعُ الْمَيِّتَ ثَلَاثٌ: أَهْلُهُ وَمَالُهُ وَعَمَلُهُ، فَيَرْجِعُ اثْنَانِ وَيَبْقَى وَاحِدٌ، يَرْجِعُ أَهْلُهُ وَمَالُهُ، وَيَبْقَى عَمَلُهُ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Sufyān
  2. ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Bakr
  3. Anas Yuḥaddith
  4. al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ Three things follow the deceased: his family, his wealth, and his deeds. Two return and one remains. His family and his wealth return, and his deeds remain.
