حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍعَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ بَنِي سَلِمَةَ أَرَادُوا أَنْ يَتَحَوَّلُوا مِنْ مَنَازِلِهِمْ، فَيَسْكُنُوا قُرْبَ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، وَكَرِهَ أَنْ تَعْرَى الْمَدِينَةُ، فَقَالَ: يَا بَنِي سَلِمَةَ أَلَا تَحْتَسِبُونَ آثَارَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ؟ قَالُوا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَأَقَامُوا

Translation

✧ The Banu Salimah wanted to move from their homes and settle near the mosque. The Messenger of God ﷺ heard of that, and he disliked that Madinah should be left bare, so he said: O Banu Salimah, will you not count your footsteps to the mosque? They said: Yes, O Messenger of God. So they stayed.
