حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ
إِنِّي قَدْ تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمْ مَا إِنْ أَخَذْتُمْ بِهِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدِي، الثَّقَلَيْنِ، وَأَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْآخَرِ، كِتَابُ اللهِ [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ] حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ، وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلُ بَيْتِي، أَلَا وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am leaving among you something which, if you adhere to it, you will never go astray after me—two things, one of which is greater than the other: the Book of Allah, a rope stretched from the heavens to the earth, and my progeny, my Ahlul Bayt. They will not separate until they come to me at the pond (of Kawthar)."
