What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

    وأحسنها إسنادا حديث علي

machine translationAnd the best of them in chain of transmission is the hadith of ʿAlī.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 1155
  • ابن الملقن

    حديث صحيح

    machine translationAn authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) hadith.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 1155
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

في الفرق أحاديث ليست على شرط الصحيح منها حديث علي مرفوعا ينضح بول الغلام ويغسل بول الجارية أخرجه أحمد وأصحاب السنن إلا النسائي وروي موقوفا

machine translationAmong the hadiths on the distinction (between the urine of a boy and a girl) are some that do not meet the condition of the Ṣaḥīḥ, among them the hadith of ʿAlī traced to the Prophet (marfūʿ): "The urine of a boy is sprinkled with water, and the urine of a girl is washed." Aḥmad and the authors of the Sunan, except al-Nasāʾī, recorded it, and it was also narrated as mawqūf.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 1155
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationQatādah narrates it from Abū Ḥarb b. Abī al-Aswad, from his father, and Hishām b. Abī ʿAbdillāh traced it back to the Prophet (marfūʿ), in the narration of his son Muʿādh and ʿAbd al-Ṣamad b. ʿAbd al-Wārith from Hishām, while others than the two reported it from Hishām as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf). Likewise Saʿīd b. Abī ʿArūbah and Hammām narrated it from Qatādah as mawqūf. And God knows best.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 1155
