✧ I witnessed Ali and Uthman between Makkah and Madinah, and Uthman was prohibiting mut'ah and combining the two (i.e., Hajj and Umrah). When Ali saw that, he assumed ihram for both and said: "Labbayk for an Umrah and Hajj together." Uthman said: "You see me prohibiting the people from it, and you do it?" He said: "I would not abandon the Sunnah of the Messenger of God ﷺ for the statement of anyone among the people."
