machine translationMālik b. Anas narrates it from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah, and there is disagreement about it from him. Al-Qaʿnabī, Maʿn, Abū Muṣʿab and the other transmitters of the Muwaṭṭaʾ narrated it from Mālik, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah, from his father, from Abū Saʿīd. Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, Abū Ṣafwān al-Umawī ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Marwān, and ʿAbbād b. Ṣuhayb differed from them, and narrated it from Mālik, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh, from his father, from Abū Saʿīd, from his brother Qatādah b. al-Nuʿmān, from the Prophet ﷺ. They also differed regarding Mālik about the name of Ibn Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah; the correct statement is that of Abū Maʿmar al-Quṭaʿī from Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, and it is the right one.
in مسند أحمد, p. 11292 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
