✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us one day, ascended the pulpit, and we sat around him. He said: Among the things I fear for you after me is what Allah opens to you of the splendor of this world and its adornment. A man said: O Messenger of Allah, can good bring evil? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent, and we saw that revelation was descending on him [Jibril]. It was said to the man: What is the matter with you, that you speak to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he does not speak to you? Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was relieved, and he began to wipe the sweat from himself. He said: Where is the questioner? And it was as if he praised him. He said: Indeed, good does not bring evil, and among what the spring [rain] causes to grow is what kills or nearly kills by bloating. Have you not seen the eater of green vegetation: it eats until its flanks are full and it faces the sun, then it drops dung and urinates, then returns to grazing. Indeed, wealth is sweet and green, and an excellent companion for a Muslim man is one who gives from it to the poor, the orphan, and the wayfarer. Or as the Prophet ﷺ said. And the one who takes it without right is like the one who eats but is not satisfied, and it will be a witness against him on the Day of Resurrection.
