✧ I heard [the Messenger of God] ﷺ say upon this pulpit: What is the matter with men who say that the kinship of the Messenger of God ﷺ does not benefit his people? Indeed, by God, my kinship is connected in this world and the Hereafter, and I, O people, am a forerunner for you at the Basin. When you come, a man will say: O Messenger of God, I am So-and-so son of So-and-so. And another will say: I am So-and-so son of So-and-so. So I will say to them: As for lineage, I have recognized it, but you introduced innovations after me and turned back on your heels.
