حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ الْمَدَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ
أَرْبَعٌ لَا يَدَعُهَا النَّاسُ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ: النِّيَاحَةُ، وَالتَّعَايُرُ فِي الْأَحْسَابِ، وَقَوْلُهُمْ: سُقِينَا بِنَوْءِ كَذَا، وَالْعَدْوَى جَرِبَ بَعِيرٌ فَأَجْرَبَ مِائَةً، فَمَنْ أَجْرَبَ الْأَوَّلَ. ؟

✧ Four things the people will not abandon from the affairs of the pre-Islamic era: wailing (over the dead), reviling one another's lineages, their saying, 'We were given rain by such-and-such a star,' and contagion: a camel gets mange and infects a hundred, so who infected the first one?
