حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ

الْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا، وَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ، إِنَّهُ يَذَرُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي، فَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ.

Translation

Chain of narrators

  3. Muḥammad
  4. Abū Hurayrah
  5. Rasūl Allāh ﷺ

✧ A good deed is multiplied tenfold, and fasting is for Me and I reward it. He gives up his food and drink for My sake, so fasting is for Me and I reward it. And the breath of a fasting person is sweeter in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk.
