حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالطَّوَّافِ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُطْعِمُوهُ لُقْمَةً لُقْمَةً، إِنَّمَا الْمِسْكِينُ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ الَّذِي لَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا.

Translation

  4. Abū Hurayrah
  5. al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ The poor person is not the one who goes around among you asking for a morsel or two. Rather, the poor person is the one who refrains from asking people persistently.
