حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ وَشُعْبَةَ وَحَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنْ حُجَيَّةَ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ عَلِيًّا عَنِ الْبَقَرَةِ، فَقَالَ: عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ، قَالَ: الْقَرْنُ ؟ قَالَ: لَا يَضُرُّكَ، قَالَ: فَالْعَرْجَاءُ ؟ قَالَ: إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْمَنْسِكَ، قَالَ: وَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَسْتَشْرِفَ الْعَيْنَ، وَالْأُذُنَ

Translation

✧ A man asked Ali about the cow. He said: “From seven.” He said: “The hornless one?” He said: “It does not harm you.” He said: “The lame one?” He said: “When it reaches the place of sacrifice.” He said: “And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to inspect the eyes and ears.”
