حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ يَقُولُ

لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالطَّوَّافِ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَالْأُكْلَةُ وَالْأُكْلَتَانِ، وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لَا يَجِدُ غِنًى يُغْنِيهِ وَلَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا.

✧ The destitute is not the one who goes around and is turned back by a date or two, or a morsel or two. Rather, the destitute is the one who does not find enough to make him self-sufficient, and does not beg people importunately.
