حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ يَقُولُ
ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ بِسُؤَالِهِمْ وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ، فَإِذَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِأَمْرٍ فَأْتُوهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ، وَإِذَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ أَمْرٍ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ.

✧ Leave me with what I have left you. For those before you were only destroyed by their excessive questioning and their differing with their prophets. When I command you to do something, do as much of it as you are able, and when I forbid you from something, avoid it.
