Does the person walking greet the person riding?

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ
أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ فَارِسًا فَبَدَأَهُ بِالسَّلاَمِ فَقُلْتُ تَبْدَأُهُ بِالسَّلاَمِ؟ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ شُرَيْحًا مَاشِيًا يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلامِ
Translation
✧ That he met a horseman and initiated the greeting to him. I said, 'You initiate the greeting to him?' He said, 'I saw Shurayh walking, initiating the greeting.'
