Someone saying, "There is magic in eloquence"

حَدَّثَنَا عَارِمٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَوْ أَعْرَابِيًّا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَتَكَلَّمَ بِكَلاَمٍ بَيِّنٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ سِحْرًا وَإِنَّ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ حِكْمَةً

Translation

✧ A man—or a bedouin—came to the Prophet ﷺ and spoke with clear, eloquent speech. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Indeed, some eloquence is sorcery, and some poetry is wisdom.”
