Translation
✧ From Jābir, he said: The Prophet ﷺ used to teach us Istikhara in matters just as he taught us a surah from the Qur'an. When one of us intended a matter, he should pray two rak'ahs and then say: 'O Allah, I seek Your guidance by Your knowledge, and I seek Your power by Your might, and I ask You of Your great bounty. For You have power and I have no power, and You know and I do not know, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affair' – or he said: 'in the immediate and the later' – 'then decree it for me. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome' – or he said: 'in the immediate and the later' – 'then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree for me the good wherever it may be, and then make me pleased with it.' And he names his need.
