حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَلِمَةَ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَتَبَ إِلَى قَيْسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَرْحَبِيِّ: " بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ، مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللهِ إِلَى قَيْسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ وَمَغْفِرَتُهُ. أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَذَاكُمْ أَنِّي اسْتَعْمَلْتُكَ عَلَى قَوْمِكَ: عُرْبِهِمْ وَخُمُورِهِمْ، وَمَوَالِيهِمْ وَحَاشِيَتِهِمْ، وَأَقْطَعْتُكَ مِنْ ذُرَةِ يَسَارٍ مِائَتَيْ صَاعٍ، وَمِنْ زَبِيبِ خَيْوَانَ مِائَتَيْ صَاعٍ، جَارٍ ذَلِكَ لَكَ وَلِعَقِبِكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ أَبَدًا أَبَدًا " قَالَ قَيْسٌ: وَقَوْلُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ: " أَبَدًا أَبَدًا "، أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ، إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ يَبْقَى لِي عَقِبِي أَبَدًا

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote to Qays b. Malik al-Arhabi: 'In Your name, O Allah. From Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, to Qays b. Malik. Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah, His blessings, and His forgiveness. To proceed: I have appointed you over your people—their Arabs and their non-Arabs, their clients and their retinue—and I have granted you from the corn of Yasar two hundred saa's, and from the raisins of Khaywan two hundred saa's, effective for you and your descendants after you, forever and ever.' Qays said: 'And the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "forever and ever," is more beloved to me. I hope that my descendants will remain forever.'
