✧ "I fell ill in the year of the conquest with an illness from which I feared death. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me during it. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have abundant wealth, and none will inherit from me except my daughter. Should I bequeath two-thirds of my wealth?' He said, 'No.' I said, 'Then half?' He said, 'No.' I said, 'Then a third?' He said, 'A third, and a third is large—or: much. Indeed, if you leave your heirs wealthy, it is better than leaving them poor, begging from people. You will not spend any expenditure but that you will be rewarded for it, even the morsel you raise to your wife's mouth.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, will I be left behind after my emigration?' He said, 'You will not be left behind after me such that you do a deed desiring the Face of Allah by it except that you will increase in elevation and degree. Perhaps you will be left behind until some people benefit through you and others are harmed through you. O Allah, complete the emigration of my companions, and do not turn them back on their heels. But the unfortunate one is Sa'd ibn Khawlah.' He expressed sorrow that he died in Makkah."
