حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:

دُفِعْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَعِنْدَهُ فَضْلَةٌ مِنْ طَعَامٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَيَطْلُعَنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ رَجُلٌ يَأْكُلُ هَذِهِ الْفَضْلَةَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ: فَمَرَرْتُ بِعُمَيْرِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ، فَقُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي: هُوَ صَاحِبُهَا، فَجَعَلْنَا نَتَشَرَّفُ شُخُوصَ مَنْ يَطْلُعُ عَلَيْنَا، فَطَلَعَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَعَا لَهُ بِالْفَضْلَةِ فَأَكَلَهَا

Translation

✧ I was brought to the Messenger of God ﷺ while he had a leftover portion of food. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: A man from the people of Paradise will come upon you from this mountain pass and eat this leftover. He said: I passed by Umayr b. Malik while he was performing ablution, and I said to myself: He is the one. Then we began looking out for the figures of those who would come upon us, and Abd Allah b. Salam came upon the Messenger of God ﷺ, so he called him over for the leftover and he ate it.
