  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAl-Aʿmash narrates it from Abū Isḥāq, from Muṣʿab, from his father; Dāwūd b. Rashīd said this from ʿAlī b. Hāshim, from al-Aʿmash. Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt differed from him and narrated it from al-Aʿmash, from Muṣʿab, without mentioning Abū Isḥāq. Salamah b. Kuhayl also narrated it from Muṣʿab, and Abū Shaybah traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ (marfūʿ) from Salamah. Al-Thawrī and Shuʿbah differed from him and narrated it from Salamah as a statement of a Companion (mawqūf), not traced back to the Prophet ﷺ. It is also said from al-Thawrī, from Salamah, as marfūʿ, but that is not established. The mawqūf version is closer to being correct.
